Women + Men Entrepreneurs + Philanthropy + Activism= A Win-Win Blueprint for Success and Significance
I set out to create a directory for entrepreneurs that would give them the opportunity to connect philanthropy in a more direct way to their business. On this site your favorite charity is given the spotlight in the Philanthropy for Social Justice, A-Z Directory at no additional cost. We are also an inclusive and OPEN directory, welcoming people of all cultures, male and female entrepreneurs, teens and adults, new CEOs and established CEOs, to enhance the dialogue.
When I look at the variety of "members only" sites springing up on the net, I have to shake my head in amazement. Here is this wonderful vehicle to take your information nationwide called the world wide web, and people are selecting to be exclusive to a few, and shun the majority.
When you cut yourself off from the whole, it should be for a private discussion; it is really the antithesis of "networking" which expands out. A business that wants to generate new clients should not be cutting itself off from the millions that surf the net daily, in favor of a few who belong to a specific network. You cannot expand and contract at the same time; if you do; you go nowhere. That is why this directory is OPEN.
Exclusivity also creates societal divides-- have's and have not's. If we want to make a difference with our business model, we need to remain open and accessible. It is a mistake to think you know where all of your business will come from in 2009-2010. The cautionary "don't put your eggs in one basket" applies more in 2009 than ever before, and it applies to networking circles.
Additionally, philanthropy should not be an afterthought. If it is, you should rethink your business blueprint for it is certain to fail. Money needs to be circulated to work, and it's a moral imperative, as well: to whom much is given, much is expected.
Not only does exclusivity cut you off from the whole, but it limits your ability to make an impact philanthropically with your business. You cannot share and withhold at the same time; your hand is either open or closed. You have to choose.
So my question to you today is simply this: What is in your blueprint for success? Are you trying to achieve significance through enlarging your territory of influence, or are you shining just one spotlight on yourself?
You can build a win-win scenario that benefits both the charity you value and your business on The New US Woman!
